What Our Community & Survivors Say

Sarian Karim Kamara

Founder & FGM Survivor

“I was initiated into Bondo at age 11 in Sierra Leone. I know the trauma first-hand, and I know that the music, the dancing, and the sisterhood of Bondo are beautiful. We must preserve that culture—we just need to lose the knife.”

Traditional Sowei (Cutter)

Bombali District, SL

“For generations, cutting was our livelihood and community duty. But seeing the pain of our girls, and with KDLK’s support to pivot to alternative trades, we have laid down our knives to embrace a new path.”

UK Circle Participant

Peckham Support Group

“In London, KDLK gave me a family. They helped me talk about my pain, navigate menopause workshops, and heal from the trauma I carried for decades. I realized I was not alone.”
